MOSAIC WORKSHOP at the HABITAT RESTORE
2nd Workshop added - Staring May 3rd
Customers have shared photos of their ReStore purchases creatively RePurposed – a table ReSurfaced, a chair ReVamped, a China Cabinet ReEnvisioned, a mirror or picture frame ReInvented. Merchandise sitting on the ReStore floor today may be hiding a secret inner life, just waiting to be ReImagined with a creative twist.
Feeling inspired to embark on a project of your own? The Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Cape May Court House is offering a first-ever workshop: ReCreating with Mosaic, in early April 2018. This series of four sessions is designed for adults who are Interested in exploring their creativity by resurfacing and embellishing a small furniture or decorative item. Instructor Susan Zipper is a professional mosaicist who has been teaching fine craft in South Jersey for over 25 years, most recently at the Clay College and Innovation Center in Millville. People who sign up do not have to be experienced, just willing to experiment and let their imagination flow… this art form is a lot of fun” Zipper explained.
The workshop will span two weeks, with classes at the ReStore Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9 and Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4:30. The first class begins Thursday, May 3rd and continues Saturday 5/5, Thursday 5/10 and Saturday 5/12. Participants are requested to commit to all four sessions in order to have enough time to successfully complete their mosaic project. The cost for the full workshop is $75, and includes 10 hours of instruction, all materials needed, and a suitable furniture piece or object from ReStore inventory. A list and explanation of additional usable “findings” for the mosaic will be available at sign up. Students will be offered the opportunity to choose an object or furniture piece at a Monday evening preparatory “clinic “May 1st from 6:30 - 8pm at the ReStore. Ms. Zipper will also be available to answer any questions.
