Dedicated December 14, 2013
The English Home
307 Sumner Street Cape May Court House Our second building project for 2013 was on Sumner Street in Whitesboro, the first home to be built on a lot donated to Habitat by Middle Township, with the support and efforts of the Middle Township Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. This four-bedroom home was be stick-built from the ground up, and is Habitat Cape May's very first Thrivent Builds project. The sponsorship from Thrivent Financial, a national financial services company with 2.5 million members, provided 50% of the cost of construction. Local Lutheran Congregations will provided an additional 10% of construction costs, as well as many volunteers for the project. Our homeowner partners for Sumner Street also have Whitesboro roots, as mom Amelia English grew up in the community as well. Over 170 local volunteers participated on this build, which was completed in December 2013. |
